FRIENDSHIP
IS LOVE.
Making an
Elderly Referral
Do you know an elderly New Yorker living alone? Is there a homebound older adult in your building who does not have any visitors? Do you see the same elderly person sitting in the park every week with no one to talk to?
To be eligible for our programs and services, one must simply be a New York resident living alone, 65 years of age or more, with limited social contacts and with few nearby family members.
We currently serve English, Spanish and French-speaking elders. For other languages spoken, we need to assess on a case-by-case basis the current availability of our bilingual volunteers.
If you know of an isolated older adult who would benefit from social connections, or if you are an older adult in the population we serve, please call Friendships for Life New York at 718-395-5722
or email your inquiry at: info@friendshipsny.org
If a new elderly referral is a good fit for our programs, we will call or meet the older adult in-person to ensure that she/he is eligible and wishes to participate.
