Meet Our
Compassionate Volunteers
We can’t thank our volunteers enough for their dedication and support in making New York a kinder place to grow older. One friendly visit and phone call at a time, FFLNY volunteers bring some much-needed love, encouragement, and companionship into the lives of our elderly friends.
We are grateful also for the volunteers who offer their skills, talents, and resources to support our mission of relieving loneliness and isolation among elderly New Yorkers.
Often, the best gift you can give a friend is your time.
Meet some special volunteers who have built strong and life-long intergenerational friendships. It takes a community to show homebound elders that they are remembered, heard, and loved.

Texas Native
Ashley Austin Morris
Our first featured volunteer is Texan native Ashley Austin Morris. Ashley has a passion for the elders she has befriended and shares:
“There’s a couple of things I hope to do in this life, and one of them is inspiring people to visit the elderly. Connect with them. Love on them. Don’t forget them.
They need us, and
we need them”.

Jamaica Native
Cynthia Miller
Ms. Cynthia is a faithful and active member of Bedford Central Presbyterian church in Crown Heights.
Thanks to her commitment to
serve, and compassion to visit homebound elderly neighbors,
Ms. Cynthia started memorable friendships with elders who have much wisdom and life stories to share.

One of life's greatest gifts
— Lifelong Friendships
One year after connecting with Rebecca, our of our elders Paul stated,
“It is through my involvement that I was reawakened to the precious nature of friendship. I now have a bond that is both joyous and life-affirming, qualities that were — and still are — essential during these trying times.”
In a Newsletter Edition focused on companionship, AmeriCorps Seniors highlighted our work benefiting older adults in New York City. Read this article where Bobbie Kaplan interviews Jérôme Michaux the NYC Site Coordinator. Jérôme shares: "The volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. They are simply the most wonderful, caring people who provide real companionship. In return, they receive invaluable gifts from our elders, such as wisdom, inspiration, and a two-way friendship. "
